Experience

In order of most to least recent:

Content Writer - freelance since January 2025

Following my first successful project producing content for UWE's Digital Learning Service, I am now working as a freelance content writer. Through audience research, emulating key messaging and capturing tone of voice, I can create bespoke blog articles, newsletters, social media content and more for organisations.

Reporter for Bristol 24/7, April 2025

Working in the editorial team, I spent a week producing news and feature articles on behalf of Bristol 24/7. I conducted interviews with a local business and creative organisation, responded to PR statement briefs, worked with style guides and refined my knowledge of Wordpress.

Administrative Assistant for Riverside Playgroup Twickenham, adhoc since 2021

I provide administrative and operations support, including digital communications, document filing and data entry, and managing accounts. During this role I implemented new procedures for curriculum planning, monitoring children’s development and recruitment in line with EYFS guidance; I developed all the associated documentation and onboarded staff accordingly. I have also refined the organisation’s policies and prospectus, and produced various operations documentation.

Studio Producer for Bower News, December 2024

I produced a live 30 minute TV broadcast with a studio audience for Bower News, UWE's in-house journalism platform. This involved curating TV packages and interviews with the newsdesk editor, overseeing quality control and management of pre-recorded digital content, and coordinating teams within the gallery and studio before and during broadcast.

Senior Lifestyle Editor for HUB Magazine, since September 2024

As senior editor I commission articles for the lifestyle section via social media, coordinate with junior editors to proofread, edit and publish content on our Wordpress site, and publish my own articles. This role has developed my knowledge of the student market, as well as my ability to write engaging and empathetic content about mental health and wellbeing.

Film Screening Coordinator for Sparks Bristol, March - July 2024

I curated a collection of films promoting the UN 17 sustainable development goals to be screened at Sparks Bristol. I sourced and catalogued films, researched licensing requirements and developed screening programmes suitable for adults and children.

Education

Media Production (Journalism) BA degree at University of the West of England, 2021 - 2025

During my degree I trained across reporting, editorial and production roles in a live newsroom environment. I have experience researching stories and conducting professional-level interviews, enabling me to produce multimedia journalism for a range of audiences. I've worked on our digital newsdesk, curated bulletins reflecting topical and breaking stories, and collaborated on live broadcasts in radio and TV studios. In addition, I have sound knowledge of journalistic law and industry standards, and some  basic experience court reporting.

"We were lucky enough to have Kyra join us as volunteer film coordinator last year. Kyra was extremely organised and diligent and we are immensely grateful for her research and coordination, resulting in a curated collection of films we can screen at Sparks."

- Lucy Willoughby, Sparks Volunteer Coordinator
